Warm, Inviting Cinnamon

Cinnamon has many wonderful properties that cannot be overlooked. It makes an apple pie taste fantastic, makes your coffee taste like Christmas time, and adds a flare to your home that makes it smell warm and inviting. What most people do not know about cinnamon is that it is the number one candle scent sold in America. At Christmas time, people often purchase cinnamon scented pinecones to make their home smell delicious. There are many that want that same scent all year long; this is partly why cinnamon has become so popular.

What most people do not know is that cinnamon also has magical properties as well. Cinnamon is often used in the Pagan, Wiccan, and Shaman communities to ward evil from the home. Burning cinnamon candles in the home for at least a half hour each day will keep bad feelings and negative intensions from your door and create a happier environment inside your home. Perhaps it is because the warm cent of cinnamon makes a person relax and feel at ease or maybe it really does have magical properties to it, but whatever the reason, there are fewer unhappy people in a cinnamon scented home than one that scented with coconut.

Coconut is a fun, tropical scent that makes your home smell good, and is also an aphrodisiac. This means that it is regularly going to cause arousal in people that are subjected to smelling the sweet nutty scent of the coconut. While emotions are stirring, some of them will leak out and they are not always the ones that you are hoping for. The coconut smell arouses all emotions and we do not always get to pick and choose which ones that we are going to let out. This is why it is not advised to burn coconut scented candles unless you are able to handle the potentially hostile behaviors it can bring about. Cinnamon is preferred because it helps to calm those emotions that can otherwise get out of hand. The relaxing atmosphere is a great place for the elderly as well as young children to be in.

Floating Candle Centerpeices

Floating candle centerpieces can be quite stunning, even for those on a budget. They are easy to create and look good no matter what type of event you are using them with. With a few simple items, you can have a beautiful centerpiece that can be used for any purpose whether or not you are having a wedding or using them for everyday use. For everyday use, they can make a drab space look fabulous.

Things you Need:
  • Floating Candles
  • Water
  • Round Glass Container
  • River Rocks or Seashells
  • Optional: food coloring

Step One:
Thoroughly clean out the round glass container that you have chosen to use for your floating candle centerpieces. Wipe it clean with a paper towel so that there are no smudges or fingerprints to reflect through the water. If you are using these centerpieces in a wedding, you want to make sure you use gloves or a soft cloth when handling the glass containers to keep them clean.

Step Two:
Place the river rocks or seashells in the bottom of the round glass container that you just filled. Make sure that you only put in enough to cover the bottom of the container. Do not overlap them and be sure that you use the smallest ones before using up all the bigger ones because the candles will have a hard time floating over the top of them.

Step Three:
Place the floating candle in the center of the round glass container on top of the seashells or round river rocks. You want to do this before adding water so that it does not overflow onto the table potentially ruining things by adding the water first.

Step Four:
Place the floating candle centerpiece in the place that it is going to stay. Again, you want to move it before you add water so that the water does not slosh all over and create a mess to clean up.

Step Five:
Add water to the centerpieces using a pitcher or water bottle. Fill the round glass container until the candle rises above the round river rock or seashells and can float freely around the bowl without scraping anything. In most cases, this is nearly to the top of the glass container.

Step Six:
If you have chosen to, add the food coloring to the water. Add it one drop at a time to get the color that you are looking for. Keep in mind that when you are adding food coloring that it will more than likely stain the round glass container as well as the seashells or river rocks and the bottom of the floating candle. If you do not like care about staining, then add as much as you would like. Keep in mind that if the table is bumped, the colored water can slosh onto the tablecloth and stain that as well.
